I saved slivers of tomorrow’s tranquil dawn
Between yesterday’s eggs and cold porridge
So you find it
When you sigh between the dry 30 chews
I braided tufts of tall paddy grass
Into your thick locks of
Grandma’s heirloom curls
For the harvest festivals of untouched joy
I stole the eager silences
That densely packs my stomach
Seconds before your father calls
And hid them inside your shoes
I composed dreams of hope
Made of ballads of courage
And pink tulips
To rest between your lashes
As I sleep beside you tonight
In anticipation to wake up to the light
